Sworm - Creature Design 20240209

Sworm - A large, alien amphibious predator mainly found in asteroids and meteor showers. They feed on both plants and animals. Sworms are capable of ejecting electrical eggs from their blowholes when threatened or when hunting prey. They can also eject slime from their appendages to build traps or as a self defense mechanism. When together they attack as a swarm!

Started this design back in 2018.

Sworm initial sketches showing a group of sworms attacking people wearing gas masks. Two more images below show the detachable head a ring with legs and a tardigrade body with 3 blowholes on its back.
Images of a standing tardigrade twice the size of a human.

The sworm was going to be a creature that could eject its head from its body to escape or to attack. Back then I called it a PEST. Parasitic Electric Space Tardigrade. The name didn't stick and was later switched out to sworm. A play on words with worm and swarm. I used the tardigrade as a base design but then scrapped the detachable head idea for a worm like head that could extend out from its body.

With the help of concept artists, and many revisions later, this is what a sworm looked like in 2023.

9 different color options for a sworm with its anemone like head stretching out from it's heavy 8 foot body.

I experimented with different colors and almost chose to go with the Diablo red colors but decided to stay with the initial orange and blue color scheme. I wanted it to stand out from the planet environments in the Pie Solar System.

And this is what is looks like today on Feb. 2024

A Sworm rearing its anemone like head with radular teeth and a 8 foot body dripping slime from its appendages.

I want to make the radular mouth look more cooler and maybe go with a symmetrical pattern for the suction cups on its lower body. Hoping to finalize this creature design this year. Will share some older designs in the next post.

Buen Provecho!
